                  D Dm7/
Let's keep it between us

A7 Dm7 A7/
These people meddling in our affairs, they're not our friends
                  D Dm7
Let's keep it between us
A7 Dm7 A7
Before the last door locks and the fall begins
         Bm Bb D D/G#/
They'll tell you one thing, they'll tell me another
         G G/F# Em/ D Dm7/
Till we both don't know who to trust, oh darling
                  D Dm7/
Let's keep it between us

[Verse repeats chords]

Let's keep it between us, we've been through too much together that they've
never shared
Let's keep it between us, they never had a word to say before now it's like
they've always cared
All we need is honesty, a little humility and trust, oh darling
Let's keep it between us

Bridge:
   Bm Bb/
I know we're not perfect
D G/
Then again so what
Bm Bb/
Ain't no reason for you to treat me like a snake
D G/
Me to treat you like a slut
F# Em/ A7
This whole thing's just making me angry

Can we lay back for a moment? before this whole breakdown goes to far
We can work it out between ourselves, or we're a whole lot worse than they
say we are
Backseat drivers don't know the feel of the wheel, but they sure do know how
to make a fuss, oh darling
let's keep it between us

Can we lay back for a moment? before we wake up and find ourselves in game
we've both all but lost
They'll push easy answers and cheap solutions, I don't think we can afford
the cost
In the company of fools, it's best to move move to the back of the bus, oh
darling
Let's keep it between us.

[Words vary widely: This is a cocktail with some of the words from Bonnie
Raitt's recording worked in I think. Dylan often sang "Can we keep it.."
instead of "Let's keep it.." in the Nov/Dec 1980 shows. Also, the Em chord
in the verse can also be played as an A for a slightly different sound. I
much prefer the Em.]
